Sensory integration
Sensory Integration Therapy (SIT) is a specific type of OT intervention that focuses on addressing sensory processing difficulties. Sensory processing refers to how the nervous system receives, interprets, and responds to sensory information from the environment, such as touch, sight, sound, taste, and smell. Individuals with sensory processing difficulties may have difficulty with self-regulation, attention, behavior, and social interaction. Sensory Integration Therapy uses a variety of sensory-rich activities/sensory experiences that are carefully selected and designed to challenge and enhance an individuals sensory processing abilities and enhance their overall functioning and participation in daily life activities.
